SO MANY PROSTITUTES ABOUND YET PEDOHPILES CHOOSE KIDS! SICKENING!!

Saw this this pictured post as seen on the right a couple of months back and had to go dig it up again as soon as this topic came up in order to drive home my point.

Not too long ago I wrote ‘no situation is too big enough to make a man commit suicide’. And someone called me up to say “guess you may want to clarify some things around that notion after reading this”. I didn’t like the tone of that caller until after I read what he sent.

Inasmuch as I hate the word ‘suicide’, I hereby, like the caller, proffer it to all those unrepentant pedophiles, rapists and their counterparts whose ‘stock in trade’ is causing pain and havoc on their victims irrespective of their age to take the route of ‘suicide’ before the wrath of God, hands of the law and angry mob get to them. Hell is no doubts waiting for them with open arms.

I still don’t get it why some ‘useless’ men would defile children in the name of pleasure when there are cheap and very available ‘runs’ girls who have taken prostitution to different levels all over the place hence with as little as a token, such men would get all the pleasures they desire but alas, they would rather go and defile young innocent girls including the boys who are no longer spared in the nefarious, abominable and unforgiving acts.

Gosh! Some men are so sick.

I know we’ve heard stories upon stories about how young children are defiled and abused on a daily basis, by neighbours, uncles, fathers and even those who ought to be called spiritual leaders over them. God! The list is endless.

Though we keep hearing such stories, I still got nauseous when I read about how one Ikechukwu Alu, a trader at a market on 23 Road, Festac Town, Lagos, was arrested for allegedly abducting and raping a seven-year-old girl, Victoria.

When I saw the headline, I was like “oh not again”!

According to reports as gathered from the Punch, little Victoria was in search of a supposed missing recharge card that she was said to have misplaced on her way from buying it when she was abducted by the alleged Pedophile, Alu who obviously may have lured her with a promise to help her find the card having being chased out of the home for misplacing it in the first place.

Obviously, the little girl does not stay with her parents else they wouldn’t have chased her out at that time of the night to go look for it.

Nevertheless, if they are her parents, well “it’s a big shame” on them just that it’s sad that it was the little girl who got the ‘hurts’ from their action if the report as published in the Punch is really true. I so wish it isn’t true. But then, Punch is come too far to publish incredible stories as true.

Details of what the little girl went through the entire night is only known to the ‘shameless’ Alu, the little girl and of course God as it was gathered they both spent the night in the shop in a nearby market in Amuwo Odofin where she lives until 5am until when he was accosted by residents who saw him leaving the place with the little girl strapped to his back.

Why ‘strapped to the back’? You may want to ask. I guess, according to a commentator who spoke on the issue, “the little girl was either too weak or it was meant to be a ritual”. Beats me!

The caller mentioned that sometimes, especially in cases like this, where evidence is glaring, jungle justice makes a lot of sense hence those residents should have lynched him straightaway instead of just pouring ash on him particularly after the little girl narrated how he abused her all through the night as she was quoted to have said Alu had “put his thing (manhood) in my bum-bum”.

What a messy world we live in.

Now you may want to ask, where were the parents or is it guardians in all of this drama? They should take most of the blame for letting that girl out at that time of the night.

It was further reported that after a test was carried out on seven year old Victoria at Mirabel Centre at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, there was confirmation that she was indeed raped yet Alu who was arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court on one count of rape, pleaded guilty and was granted bail with a paltry sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hmmm! This is indeed a shambolically messed up world!!

SUICIDE? WHY? THERE’S STILL A LOT TO LIVE FOR!

What in the world would lead a man who many thought had everything going for him, commit suicide?

When I heard that story many things ran through my head and I remembered Tee Billz and the story that made the rounds many weeks back on how he wanted to commit suicide but for the timely intervention of some friends who held him back from jumping over a reported bridge.

When many heard Tee Billz’s attempt at suicide, a lot of debated statements were heard and read on all the social media platforms. Some people attributed Tee Billz action to ‘depression’ but many others laughed it off saying ‘depression’ was not a “Nigerian thing”. Sadly the reality is here and so many eyes are beginning to get “opened” that depression is indeed not just an ‘oyibo’ thing but Nigerian and the world at large thing.

Many attempts at suicide are made on a daily basis all over the world. Nevertheless, it has become common and on the upsurge in Nigeria today. Thanks to not just the harsh economic weather, the lack of love for brethren and the many ‘show-offs’ on social media are also contributive factors to the upsurge as not many people can withstand the pressures.

Just yesterday, one of such attempts however fell through as a promising young man with a close knit family and according to very reliable sources has a good financial backing given his family background. He was said to be a happy, jolly fellow who was always the joy of every party and had nearly everything going for him including a good paying job, social life, family and more. As a matter of fact, he was envied by many. By the way, wife has a great paying job as well. Not even a health issue.

So the mind-boggling question is “why did he commit suicide”?

A close friend of mine who is also a friend to the ‘suicide guy’ narrated that he was actually in his (my friend’s) office the day before but had to leave him behind in the office to meet up with an appointment even as the ‘suicide guy’ stayed back given that they both work in the same establishment but different units. Unknown to my friend that was the last time he would see his friend and colleague alive.

The confusing part of the story is that he never gave anyone the impression that he was depressed or going through a ‘thingy’ that needed sorting out by suicide neither was there any inkling to shooting himself.  Worse of all, he had to go shoot himself in front of a Priest! Why? Nobody knows as at the time of writing this. However, the guy must have had a good reason, known only to him, for doing it in
front of a Priest. Nonetheless, there is no justification for shooting himself let alone in front of a Priest.

Even though many stories are buzzing in the air about the reasons behind the suicide, I still don’t think ‘suicide’ was the only way out. Even if he owed the Central bank of Nigeria millions, still was no ‘good enough’ reason to commit suicide. This life is sweet inspite of the numerous challenges jare!

Objectively, one would expect that the young man should have thought about his wife, daughter and some beloved members of his close and extended family who look up to him for one thing or the other, tangible or intangible. If he thought about all that and more, he would have sought out other means of getting out of whatever trouble he found himself and yet still be alive today.

Well the guy thought otherwise.

So my sincere prayers go out to his family and also that God would grant him eternal rest.

I decided to with-hold his real names here because the family is still trying to get their heads around this ‘real-life’ drama put together by their son, husband and father. And for all those who may be doubting the credibility of this story, please don’t kid yourself that ‘it’s a script out of a movie’ because it is not but as real as the pain you’d feel if you pinched your nose hard right now.

I wish it was a movie as well but it’s not as it happened right here in Lagos.

And to everyone out there going through one challenge or the other. Please do not make suicide an option to the list of means-of-getting-out.

There’s still a lot to live for.

P SQUARE, BACK AGAIN: SOMETIMES, OWU DEY REALLY BRING SENSE FOR HEAD.

P SQUARE BACK TOGETHER AGAIN WITH JUDE OKOYE AS MANAGER!

Just saw the above on Charles Novia’s wall on facebook and thought would make a lot of sense to share. This move by P Square has affirmed again the wisdom of the age-long saying that “united we stand, divided, we fall” is a fact of life.

@Charles Novia has a way with words that would make you want to read anything he writes, whether or not you agree with him on some of the issues addressed at the time. He is one prolific writer who knows how to keep you glued to his page any day.

Enough said already for now! So dear reader, enjoy the rest of this as lifted from his page while I’m still trying to get over the effect of the laugh which was an upshot from that hilarious concluding  part of ‘owu’ and ‘sense’.

PETER OKOYE RELEASES STATEMENT
"My dear fans, P-Square is back. Ours is a journey that started from our mother’s womb. It was a journey that started from Primary School, continued to St. Murumba College, to when we were in University in Abuja. It was a journey in which we shared childhood memories and grown-up dreams. We are back because brothers do not let each other wander in the dark alone. We are back because we have tried the lonely road and it was not the same.

I want to take responsibility for what has happened and sincerely apologise to you our fans. For supporting us throughout this journey we owed you so much more than what you have had to endure and I apologise for that. We are embarking now on a new journey with exciting new management (Jude Okoye), new music and new ideas.
We cannot thank you enough for all your prayers and support throughout this difficult period. Maya Angelou once said that brotherhood is a condition that people have to work at. We will continue to work on that and you can be prepared to be blown away by this new phase of P-Square.

God bless you all and be assured that you have not seen anything yet!"

Peter Okoye

NOVIA'S NOTE: Family problems would always be settled and it's good for the brothers to settle their differences. However, this last one was too messy and too personal to have been exposed to the public.

In any case, with the economy of Nigeria in recession and a dearth of concerts and shows here, as well as no hit album since 2013, nor be clear eye go tell dem say they have a brand to maintain and still have at least about three to five more years to make some millions as a group and team than as single artistes.

How many artistes wey make am big as group, going solo don epp?

Owu dey bring sense for head sometimes.

I kinda agree with you on this Charles.

Hey! By the way, I'm hoping this their comeback with new music and ideas will include at least a song dedicated to Mary Slessor. *winks*

MAY NOT BE PERFECT, BUT THE GRASS WOULD ALL BE GREEN

A friend, Blessing-Obi on his facebook page posted:

"When l look back to my birth country, l see people struggling, women sad, men kicked out of jobs, sisters travelling to Abuja and Lagos to start a career in prostitution popularly known as "runs", running inflation besets the economy, innocent children roam the streets, people blaming Govt. Insecurity everywhere even with the kidnappings of commoners and monarchs. And in the midst of these social ills and despair l still see HOPE, HOPE and BELIEF. Let corrupt politicians who live in luxurious houses and drive expensive cars wallow in stolen wealth, the sweat of the Nigerian, still l see HOPE, l still BELIEVE in HOPE. A day is come and it is no longer far, we sit with fellas, we are planning, the days are near, when political criminals will gnash their teeth and common Nigerians smile, children would have clothes on their backs, although not a perfect world where the grass is all green, but at least a world fair enough".

After reading the post above, you would agree with all sense of being unbiased that this is ‘hard truth’ and a clear picture of what is really going on in Nigeria at the moment and to say the least, it scares me.

Yes, it should scare you because the way things are at the moment tells that except God intervenes, it may get worse and if it does, the rhetorical question is, “who will be spared” or “which class or category of persons in the country will not feel the brunt”?

The kidnappers are no longer after just the high, rich and wealthy but are also after people who can barely pay their rents. So also robbers are not just after the rich neither are the ‘runs’ girls after just the rich as they go round every Emeka, Shola, Dahiru, Akpan, Tom, Dick and Harry to hustle even if it means getting a token or recharge cards from a couple of these Toms, Dicks and Harrys, at the end of the day, to them, every ‘collection’ add up for something.

Children hang around people even strangers to see if they can get freebies because many of them hardly get to eat enough at home anymore.

Well dressed and healthy looking people now stop you on a daily basis begging for food. The list and scenarios are endless.

One TV soap that was widely watched and followed by many back in the 90s ‘the rich also cry’ comes to mind even as reality of the economic situation sets in on a daily basis.

Ironically, many of the ‘rich’ who are now also crying, are making the poor who have cried nearly every day of their lives, cry even more than always because many of these supposedly ‘rich’ are unrepentantly owing a larger number of these ‘poor’ without any hope of paying up even in the nearest future.

These ‘owed’ poor are faced with the dilemmas of dud cheques which have ‘bounced’ severally or tales of “sorry my mummy, daddy, uncle, aunty or even friend (as the case may be) is not home” even when the person is quietly hidden in the house and children or wards are made to tell lies.

It should scare you even more because as at this morning the Governor of the Nigerian Central bank was reported to have told Senators during a closed door meeting that the country is in what he termed ‘stagflation’, trapped between a ‘stagnant’ economy and a high level of ‘inflation’ even as the IMF has also officially asserted that the country is going through an economic recession.

What scares me the most is the hanging ‘if’ which the CBN Governor was said to have left in the air. That is, the part where government may not be able to pay salaries by October this year, 2016 if things remain or get worse than this. This should really scare you.

The question now is “what is the way forward”.

Like my friend Obi reeled out in the post as seen at the beginning of this write up. So many people have been sacked, women sad, children roaming the streets, ‘runs’ increasing as more ladies are joining the trade traveling not only between Abuja and Lagos with the social media making it a lot more easier. Sad but true and even more.

Ironically, men are not giving without ‘taking’ as everything given must be paid for in ‘kind’ even for as little as lunch, a drink, recharge cards, phone and more; not to mention when you ask for a huge sum, rent, car the list goes on. Shameful! That tells you how tough it is out there.

Nevertheless, there is hope, hope in the fact that you can choose to either sit back, fold your hands, until you eventually die as a result of hunger or find something honourable to do while we await a way forward from the government. Learn a trade and avoid depravities, spend wisely as that’s the way to go for now because even the ‘mugu’ is getting wiser as we speak or as you read. *winks*

Enough of the ‘blame game’ about this Politician or that Politician did this or that. However know that there is hope but for now, “Let corrupt politicians who live in luxurious houses and drive expensive cars wallow in stolen wealth, the sweat of the Nigerian, still l see HOPE, l still BELIEVE in HOPE. A day is come and it is no longer far, we sit with fellas, we are planning, the days are near, when political criminals will gnash their teeth and common Nigerians smile, children would have clothes on their backs, although not a perfect world where the grass is all green, but at least a world fair enough”.

Hopefully, the question on ‘the way forward’ would be near ‘answered’.
