SUICIDE? WHY? THERE’S STILL A LOT TO LIVE FOR!

What in the world would lead a man who many thought had everything going for him, commit suicide?

When I heard that story many things ran through my head and I remembered Tee Billz and the story that made the rounds many weeks back on how he wanted to commit suicide but for the timely intervention of some friends who held him back from jumping over a reported bridge.

When many heard Tee Billz’s attempt at suicide, a lot of debated statements were heard and read on all the social media platforms. Some people attributed Tee Billz action to ‘depression’ but many others laughed it off saying ‘depression’ was not a “Nigerian thing”. Sadly the reality is here and so many eyes are beginning to get “opened” that depression is indeed not just an ‘oyibo’ thing but Nigerian and the world at large thing.

Many attempts at suicide are made on a daily basis all over the world. Nevertheless, it has become common and on the upsurge in Nigeria today. Thanks to not just the harsh economic weather, the lack of love for brethren and the many ‘show-offs’ on social media are also contributive factors to the upsurge as not many people can withstand the pressures.

Just yesterday, one of such attempts however fell through as a promising young man with a close knit family and according to very reliable sources has a good financial backing given his family background. He was said to be a happy, jolly fellow who was always the joy of every party and had nearly everything going for him including a good paying job, social life, family and more. As a matter of fact, he was envied by many. By the way, wife has a great paying job as well. Not even a health issue.

So the mind-boggling question is “why did he commit suicide”?

A close friend of mine who is also a friend to the ‘suicide guy’ narrated that he was actually in his (my friend’s) office the day before but had to leave him behind in the office to meet up with an appointment even as the ‘suicide guy’ stayed back given that they both work in the same establishment but different units. Unknown to my friend that was the last time he would see his friend and colleague alive.

The confusing part of the story is that he never gave anyone the impression that he was depressed or going through a ‘thingy’ that needed sorting out by suicide neither was there any inkling to shooting himself.  Worse of all, he had to go shoot himself in front of a Priest! Why? Nobody knows as at the time of writing this. However, the guy must have had a good reason, known only to him, for doing it in
front of a Priest. Nonetheless, there is no justification for shooting himself let alone in front of a Priest.

Even though many stories are buzzing in the air about the reasons behind the suicide, I still don’t think ‘suicide’ was the only way out. Even if he owed the Central bank of Nigeria millions, still was no ‘good enough’ reason to commit suicide. This life is sweet inspite of the numerous challenges jare!

Objectively, one would expect that the young man should have thought about his wife, daughter and some beloved members of his close and extended family who look up to him for one thing or the other, tangible or intangible. If he thought about all that and more, he would have sought out other means of getting out of whatever trouble he found himself and yet still be alive today.

Well the guy thought otherwise.

So my sincere prayers go out to his family and also that God would grant him eternal rest.

I decided to with-hold his real names here because the family is still trying to get their heads around this ‘real-life’ drama put together by their son, husband and father. And for all those who may be doubting the credibility of this story, please don’t kid yourself that ‘it’s a script out of a movie’ because it is not but as real as the pain you’d feel if you pinched your nose hard right now.

I wish it was a movie as well but it’s not as it happened right here in Lagos.

And to everyone out there going through one challenge or the other. Please do not make suicide an option to the list of means-of-getting-out.

There’s still a lot to live for.

IS LOVE A DANGEROUS GAME?

The social media has been buzzing with domestic violence issues for a while now especially with the latest news of the death of one Ronke Shonde who allegedly was killed by her husband.

The week before, even though nobody died, it was about Tiwa Savage and Tee Billz. The rate at which marital issues keep buzzing on air and around the space, one would think there are no longer sane or peaceful relationships between couples anywhere, anymore.

Away from the domestic brouhaha!  While a lot of couples are killing each other or attempting suicide in some part of the world, some other persons are celebrating life for the little blessings they have counted worthy to celebrate.

It’s no longer news that handsome 35 year old Hollywood act Ryan Gosling and 42 year old Eva Mendes only just had an addition of a beautiful baby girl, into their family and the actor is every way still excited on the arrival of the baby.

The already named baby girl, Amada Lee Gosling, arrived on Friday the 29th of April at 8.03am in Santa Monica, California thus giving their first child Esmeralda Amada who is already a year and twelve months old, a baby sister.

In an interview with PEOPLE, Gosling was quoted saying “It sounds so clichéd, but I never knew that life could be this fun and this great” depicting the picture of a very proud and happy father.

It is expected that Gosling who started dating Mendes sometime in 2011 would continue to keep their new addition out of public eye just as they have done with Esmeralda whom someone had told PEOPLE that Gosling was “madly in love” with, so there are no doubts that the same kind of love would be meted out to newly born Amada Lee Gosling.

In all of these excitements, Mendes sure loves her life at the moment as one of the latest celebrity mums all over again even as congratulatory messages are still going out to the couple.

It would be recalled that Gosling had earlier in an interview with Hello! Said “I know that I’m with the person I’m supposed to be with.”

How nice is the sound of that? Isn’t life beautiful? *winks*.

Honestly speaking, love shouldn’t really hurt. Couples should take a cue from this simple family and celebrate the little beautiful things and moments in their homes instead of fighting and killing each other in the process.

Nevertheless, if and only if you can’t stand the heat anymore, I guess just like Kenny Rogers sang “you’ve got to know when to hold on, when to walk away or when to run”. It’s better than someone dying in the process.

Enough of all these domestic violence. It’s time to stop the madness.

TIWA SAVAGE, TEE BILLZ "GET YOUR ACTS TOGETHER"

These celebrities, you are proving by the day that being married is not meant for you guys at all, so why waste all that money and peoples’ time in having weddings when at the end of the day, they start crashing as soon as it’s started? I don’t get it.

I don’t know how authentic this is but then I read in one of the Nigerian dailies, the Vanguard a while ago that Mr. Tunji Balogun a.k.a Tee Billz Husband of the ‘kele kele’ love crooner, Tiwa Savage, had earlier this Thursday morning sent  a number of posts on Instagram which has sent tongues wagging all over the place.

According to the report, the posts alleged that Tee Billz is on a contemplation of either ending his marriage to Tiwa Savage or commit suicide as he is “so sick of pretending that everything is alright, because it’s not”. At that point I am wondering when did this trend of ‘wanting to commit suicide’ start in Nigeria. In the past, you only hear about such happenings abroad but not in Nigeria. It was RARE! Now all of a sudden, you hear of how one man or woman took his/her life for one issue or the other. Haba!

Nigerians are known to be tough skinned/hearted people who can withstand any situation, so what happened? If you think on the contrary, look at the situation we are in at the moment in the country, a lot of us are still believing ‘when there is life there is hope’ slogan as we are still on the hustle lane and making the best of the situation. We still find time to make jokes out of the whole serious and even life threatening situations all around us. In fact, the whole world should be giving Nigeria a standing ovation as the country with the highest number of ‘egbe wedgers’ that is ‘strong people’ as the typical Edo/Bini man would simply put it.

I also gathered from the paper that part of Tee Billz post read “I hope the f**king in Tiwa Savage brand brings you peace. I used my money, soul and everything I had for you and everyone knows how I hustled hard with passion for you to get to where you are today. You will find peace with your career”. Then trust Nigerians to be quick in replying when it comes to such issues.

One person’s reply caught my attention and it said “such a shame!! That’s why my pastor says that choosing your life partner is the greatest career choice you will ever make!!!! More like the greatest life choice one will ever make.

I kinda agreed with that reply to an extent as it got me thinking. But then again, the truth is you can never get it ALL right no matter how smart/tactical you are or how long it takes you to eventually choose a LIFE partner. It takes God and sometimes ‘Luck’ to get somebody near perfect, but trust me; you can NEVER get a perfect person because on our own, we aren’t perfect as well, so why do you expect a perfect partner?

Please don’t get it twisted, I am not taking sides with either parties *I WILL NEVER DO THAT*. The thing is, ‘ALL MARRIAGES HAVE ISSUES EVERY NOW AND THEN’ but it is how the issues are handled that matters. It is not a matter of saying “I’m sorry I must have disappointed you guys. I just don’t have the strength to fight this battle anymore.  May God forgive me and accept my soul in peace”. If you asked me Tee Billz, I would say “that’s trash’.

You will not disappoint anybody but yourself if you don’t get your acts together and stand like the man you are. Doing anything silly would confirm the many rumours of the past that you were truly intimidated by the fame and success of your wife Tiwa Savage and also the claims that you’ve been violently attacking her at home.

And again, guess what? You won’t be here to testify whether the so many things that will be said about you when you are gone, are true or false. Memories of you will go *fingers clicking* in a flash just like that. If according to you, she had ‘100% insecurity’ when you met her, who do you think will be called ‘insecured’ when you take your life?

Before I let go on this, I need clarification on a part of the Instagram posts where Tee Billz allegedly wrote “to you Mr. Ibrahim Olatunji Balogun Snr….I tried my best not to be like you but instead of focusing on being a better person, I was worried about not wanting to be like you. I reached out and cry to you as my father but all you care about is yourself and your money… I ended up having kids like you by multiple women and my first marriage and only marriage didn’t make it to 2years just like the one you had with my mum. Why the f**k did God Make you my father”.

When I read that, I got a bit more confused. Nevertheless, it shows there is more to this Tiwa and Tee Billz marriage ‘wahala’ than meets the eye. Apparently, from all indications, Tee Billz is not only bitter with Tiwa Savage and the allegations of her infidelity with Don Jazzy, Tu Face, Dr. Sid and the rest of the ‘accused’, he is also bitter towards his father. Hmmm! Until we get the rest of the story, let’s just keep our fingers crossed and not take part in any ‘blame game’ yet.

My candid advice, “Tiwa and Tee Billz, sort yourselves out in your closet. Every marriage has issues, how you handle yours is up to you. Think more about the Good times together, maybe that would help".

Husband of songstress, Tiwa Savage, Mr. Tunji Balogun a.k.a Tee Billz on Thursday posted several posts on Instagram, alleging that he’s contemplating between committing suicide or ending his his marriage to the talented singer. tiwaa In the past couple of years, Tee Billz, who manages Tiwa Savage, has been accused of domestic violence – but both parties have never spoken on the matter. At some point, it was rumoured that Tee Billz was intimidated by the fame and success of the singer, hence his resorting to inflicting physical pains on her.
